After Five, Mini Five and Micro Mini Gracey Curettes

Gracey-type curettes are typically used for subgingival debridement. Common selections include 1/2 for anteriors, 11/12 for posterior mesials, and 13/14 for posterior distals (Figure 5). Design modifications improve access in difficult areas:

After Five-type

3 mm elongated terminal shank = deeper insertion

Approximately 10% thinner blade = easier insertion

Mini Five-type (Figures 5-7)

3 mm elongated terminal shank

Approximately 50% shorter blade

Micro Mini-type (Figure 10)

Approximately 20% smaller/thinner than Mini Fives

3 mm elongated terminal shank

Adapts to tight spaces and concavities

These elongated/thinned designs are offered by multiple manufacturers under various product names.
